Throughout the world Jewish community, there is a search for new, unique, reinvigorating Israel experiences. VolunTour Israel, a new independently run Orthodox organization has created the first comprehensive summer volunteer program in Israel. The program has a strong emphasis on chesed and aims at providing participants with the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to Israeli society and to put smiles on Israeli faces.

From learning how to entertain children in hospitals to camping with Israeli teenagers affected by terror, running week-long day camps for Ethiopian immigrants to being trained as medical clowns to entertain the sick at hospitals, VolunTour Israel provides a meaningful experience through a complete immersion in the concept of giving.

Participants will have the opportunity for active, positive influence at the grassroots level in Israel and for building positive, life-enhancing relationships with Israelis.

The hallmark vision behind this endeavor is that the program environment will be highly conducive to personal growth and the development of strong, sensitive and able Jewish leadership for the next generation.

The program will also contain tours incorporating educational experiences at religious and cultural sites, regular Torah study, leadership development and Israel advocacy training. The 37-day program is open to North American Jewish teenagers entering grades 11 and 12.

VolunTour Israel is also launching a new 3-week summer program called 'Hoops for Chesed'. The program will provide North American and Israeli teenagers with the necessary skills, training and techniques to allow them to run basketball clinics for underprivileged Israeli youth.

All our programs are run in partnership with the Israel Experience - Educational Tourism Services Ltd., who have vast experience in this field including more than 30 years work with hundreds of groups and thousands of participants.

What makes the VolunTour Israel experience UNIQUE? 

1.      Our major chesed segments are based upon multi-day work rather than 2-4 hour "pop-in, pop-out" chesed. Participants will build genuine relationships with Israelis.

2.      Our summer is 80% chesed-focused. Other Israel programs have a greater vacation and touring focus. VolunTour participants will explore the most exciting trails and sites across Eretz Yisrael and visit important educational and religious sites. What's unique about this? It is all done from Israel's grassroots upwards and with an invigorating chesed aroma.

3.      The outdoor experience week with One Family Fund teenagers affected by terror is one-of-a-kind - a 'mifgash' and a living experience, rather than a counselor-camper relationship.

4.      Participants prepare and operate a week-long day camp for Ethiopian immigrants. What an eye-opening week of difference for everyone involved!

5.     We offer a thorough multi-session Israel Advocacy training seminar.

6.     We tell it as it honestly is - we will be allowing for a reduction in program tuition should flight costs and fuel taxes be reduced in the coming weeks/months.
